Al Gromer Khan is a German artist who has been recording meditative and movement music inspired by India for three decades. His sitar-playing is precise yet free-form enough to envelop and enthrall you. The nine tracks range from under three minutes to over fourteen minutes long, and even with his sitar playing at the center of each selection, there is a variety here that flows smoothly from meditative to seductive, from yoga-like to passionately rhythmic and entrancing. Khan mixes electronic layered sounds with ambient music and traditional raga forms that seamlessly blends various instruments and cultures into their own unique musical style. In addition to sitar and keyboards, you'll hear are surbahar, tabla, hand drums, guitars. This artist's method is tried and true, and spans a catalog of over 25 CDs, from “Mahogany Nights” back in the peak Hearts of Space days to “Future lounge” and a wealth of titles on the New Earth records label such as “Sufi Hotel” and “Monsoon Point (w/Amelia Cuni)”.
