This was the #1 CD of 2004. With tracks that have appeared previously on compilations such as "13th Moon" and "Arabian Travels 2," Kaya Project is the work of Sebastian Taylor, who has worked with Anne Dudley & Jaz Coleman (the amazing CD "Songs from the Victorious City"; still in print), Youth, Shakta and another current Backroads discovery Angel Tears. This new CD is a brilliant melding of exotica, chillout and diverse sounds, propelled along with deep grooves and heady percussive elements, and vocals from Hawaii, India and elsewhere by the likes of Irina. This music will take you places with a long and steeped tradition of magic, enchantment, dramatic encounters and tribal resolve. This is undoubtedly the hottest Interchill release yet, and considering their catalog and place alongside Dakini, Ultimae and other top-tier labels, that is saying a lot. The less I say about it, the more you will discover, and that pool of amazing intricacy is deeper than any other that has appeared on recent horizons. |
