Snatam has had a quiet but significant impact in the chant world. Last time we looked, all three of her solo CDs were in the Retailers' Top 20, and her concert tours are a joy for all who attend. With the superb production and backing instrumentation of Thomas Barquee, a "star" in his own right, we have a blend of words, voice, music and flowing energy that is comparable to the artistry and stillness of Deva Premal, Rasa, and others in the contemporary devotional chant realm. With deeply-moving music composed jointly by Snatam and Barquee, her flawless voice dances over gentle flute, Indian violin, nylon string guitar and subtle keyboards. The music is soothing, delicate, light and uplifting....a deeply personal meditative expression and experience of joy and love of life. "Grace" is a beautiful CD, and has Snatam singing a couple songs in English, including the familiar tune "May the Long Time Sun…" which appropriately closes the CD. |
