Lucinda Drayton is the singer from the group Bliss, the UK outfit of "100,000 Angels" fame. "Both Sides" is a collection of songs she has chosen amongst her favorites from some of the greatest songwriters of our time. Included are Fields of Gold by Sting, Song of Bernadette by Leonard Cohen, Overjoyed by Stevie Wonder. Her version of Both Sides Now_ (by Joni Mitchell) is a treasure, and the more obscure songs, such as So Are You to Me by Eastmountainsouth are newly discovered gems as well. Other fine songs by John Martyn, Aimee Mann, Kate Rusby and others all fit in perfectly. As you would expect and anticipate, each track is sung from the heart by Lucinda and with her usual high standard of musicianship, this is an album not to be missed. |
