![]() | “Ashes and Snow: The Film” is a 60-minute feature film DVD encompassing the cinematic journey of Gregory Colbert. Gregory Colbert has used both still and movie cameras to explore extraordinary interactions between humans and animals. Colbert believes that nature doesn't have a style; it has a voice. The film aims to lift the natural and artificial barriers between humans & other species, dissolving the distance that exists between. Colbert chose to film animals in their native habitats to create films that can be viewed as works of art or as poetic field studies. The film was edited by two-time Oscar-winner Pietro Scalia. It is narrated by actors Laurence Fishburne (English) and Ken Watanabe (Japanese). The musical collaborators include Michael Brook, David Darling, Heiner Goebbels, Lisa Gerrard, Lukas Foss, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, and Djivan Gasparyan. The brown DVD covers were handmade in Nepal and sealed with natural beeswax; tied with thread stained with tea leaves and a Nepalese bead. Ashes and Snow: The Film” is the finest artistic achievement I know, and I am very pleased and proud to offer this DVD. |
