Biomusique is a new group comprised of two musicians who have been making rewarding and challenging music for years -- percussionist/multi-instrumentalist, Greg Ellis and breathtaking siren/songwriter, Lisbeth Scott. You may know Ellis’ work as a founding member of the sacred music duo, Vas, which was rooted in Persian and East Indian rhythms and atmospheres. He has also shaped the sound of such films as the Matrix series, 'Fight Club,' 'City of Ghosts,' and '300'. Lisbeth is the voice of State of Grace, her own fine CDs and numerous soundtracks including 'The Chronicles of Narnia,' 'Shrek,' 'The Passion of the Christ' (her first gold record), and Spielberg's 'Munich.' “The 10,000 Steps,” Biomusique’s debut, is a haunting, soulful hybrid of styles that range from textured electronic ambience, to atmospheric riffs on Celtic sound-stylings and dreamy stylings with pop appeal. Lisbeth’s impassioned vocals fall in the realm of the non-lyrical phrasings of Dead Can Dance’s Lisa Gerrard, through toning, chanting, and singing, blending and bending a fluid vocabulary of vocalese. Totally in tandem, Ellis moves surprisingly well out of his percussive comfort zone to play a number of other instruments such as trumpet, guitar, dulcimer, piano and, of course, a battery of drums and percussion, where he ably dances rhythms across the vast space of the mind. The musical journey on “The 10,000 Steps” goes far beyond the tools of language with its series of meditations for voice and global atmospheres that move into new and intimate terrain.
