What an incredible discovery this CD has been. Layers of vocals and gradually building instrumentation combine to form a powerfully evocative and truly meditative piece of healing, processional music in honor of female divinity. One long track traverses the whole of the CD in an ecstatic weave of music, voice, sacred traditions and ritual. The project was recorded in the 6000 year old Oracle Chamber in the Hypogeum at Hal Saflieni, Malta and is totally successful in evoking the lineage of ancient singing priestesses, with Jennifer so beautifully leading the way. "Returning" is highlighted by guest appearances from Sharon Burch, Linda Tillery, Qwaali singers Sukhawat Ali Khan and Riffat Salamat, Rick Lazar (of Loreena McKennitt's band), etc. One of the most powerfully transformative CDs I have heard. |
