Jennifer Berezan's CD "Praises for the World" is her most refined spiritual project, an hour-long chant/ prayer celebrating humanity & its relationship with our beautiful but endangered planet. Drawing on the talents of her closest musical friends and guest artists from other cultures, "Praises for the World" is a unique long-form recording that can be used to create or enhance any healing setting: yoga, dance, prayer, chanting, ritual, massage, meditation, or to generate an uplifting, ambient space in the home. Jennifer takes the most simple mantric phrase, "Praises, praises for the world," and weaves it into an ever-evolving spiritual suite. As the music softly develops, she brings together artists from different cultures and disciplines in an offertory sung in a number of languages from Spanish and Portuguese to Hindi and Tibetan, delivered also in poetry and enhanced by the voices of crickets, birds, frogs, nature sounds & Canadian owls that recall her own childhood in rural Canada. Jennifer then adds guest artists who have inspired her: founding members of Bobby McFerrin's Voicestra (David Worm, Joey Blake), Pakistani Qawaali singer Riffat Salamat, cellist Jami Sieber, and others. Pulitzer Prize winning author Alice Walker reads her own poem of praise to the earth, which the dynamic singer Patti Cathcart (of Tuck & Patti) turns into a breathtaking vocal improvisation. "Praises for the World" was created for deeply personal journeys of the soul. Now also available on DVD to recapture the live ritual/celebration experience. |
