After establishing herself as a principal cellist with symphonies in the US, Berlin, Andrea Bauer found that her leanings toward jazz, ambient and oriental music deserved equal time. She played with the Ray Brown Trio, James Morrison, Natalie Cole (on her "Unforgettable" world tour she played the cello solos) and many others. But it was a trip to California where Andrea found "her own music" coming to her and she recorded the "Cello Songs for Silence" CD as a result. The sounds of the cello always seem to evoke yearning and poignancy, and that is certainly the case here, but the sound that she pleads, coaxes and draws from her instrument seem to go way beyond these feelings, into a place of devotion, of silence, of stillness and reaching for the heavens by laying down prone on the very earth itself. Her songs written for spiritual teachers Eli Jaxon and Gangaji are used extensively at their satsangs, and the whole collection of 10 pieces make for marvelous listening. We are presenting more cellists than ever (Tillman, Darling, Sieber, etc.) & Andrea Bauer is right up there with the best and most expressive of any of them. It's a privilege to offer the music on "Cello Songs for Silence"
