“Jewels of Silence,” meditations for voice and crystal singing bowls, is the follow-up to the exquisite “All is Forgiven” which was released by Ashana in 2006. As before, Ashana is joined by Thomas Barquee, in an even more collaborative effort, as producer, arranger, keyboardist and supporting vocals. This is music for healing, meditation and deep relaxation -- music for the journey within -- for prayer, reiki, bodywork and rest. Seven profoundly beautiful tracks will gently carry you to the deep stillness of your inner being. Ashana's angelic vocal improvisations rise from her delicate crystal bowl playing, intertwined with Thomas' keyboard artistry, and accompanied by bansuri flute, esraj and santoor. Barquee has three releases of his own over the past decade, and production credits from Snatam Kaur to Seal, and his pure, expressive voice adds another dimension to the CD. With each successive track, the listener floats into deeper and deeper states of profound relaxation. The exquisite music, accompanied by the constant droning of the crystal bowls, shifts brainwave patterns almost immediately into alpha, theta or delta states, quieting the mind and supporting meditation, rest and dreaming. Divinely inspired, Jewels of Silence" is an incomparably beautiful recording of great depth and exquisite sensitivity. At the heart of each piece in Jewels of Silence, the constant drone of crystal singing bowls can be heard, played and intoned with sacred chant and mantra. Beginning with the root chakra in the tonality of C and ending at the crown, in the tonality of B, the pieces move sequentially up the seven main energy centers of the body, through the seven degrees of the western musical scale. To deepen the meditative and healing effects, each piece also features seed sounds, or bija mantras, that are associated with these energy centers. Be prepared to be carried away to some of the most divine spaces you can imagine. It is the sound of the heart calling the heart. And coming soon will be the more formal follow-up to "All is Forgiven" called "Beloved," which is due to be released at the beginning of 2009. |
