A graduate of New York's Mannes College of Music with a background in theater, jazz and early music, Ashana is certainly no stranger to the subtle nuances of beautiful music. And beautiful music is exactly what you get on this breath-taking debut album from the artist. “All is Forgiven” features simple prayers and Latin chant ("Ave Maria," "Kyrie") set to the sounds of piano and crystal singing bowls accompanied by keyboard. The arrangements are sweet and ethereal, while Ashana's dulcet soprano voice cascades across the meditative soundscape with celestial grace. The album was produced by Thomas Barquee, and his signature can be heard in the melodies, which bear a resemblance to his more Eastern-oriented endeavors for Spirit Voyage Music, notably the work of Snatam Kaur and his own releases. This duo, totally in synch and harmony, bring a much deeper sound than you would imagine from the sparse instrumentation. Such is the consummate talents of Barquee's production magic. And the haunting, penetrating tones of crystal singing bowls have rarely been more musical or harmonious. The calm, spacious nature of this music makes it ideal for massage, yoga or relaxation.
