While we have always been a primary source for instrumental music, whether spacey or rhythmic, it is our selection of vocal artists that really sets us apart. And this CD is a vocal offering nonpareil. The fact that it comes from non-singing instrumental artist Will Ackerman makes it all the more of interest. After 25 years of no vocals, Ackerman has gathered talented artists singing in many languages, pure expressions of the human voice. Will plays all the guitars, and there is accompaniment; at times, on bass, percussion, piano and keyboards (Philip Aaberg) and even electric guitar on a couple tracks. Some are just guitar and voice(s). The amazing singers are Samite, Happy Rhodes (her track appears on “Heart of Innocence”), Jaya Lakshmi, Heather Rankin, Curtis King, Betty McLeod, and Noah Chase. This CD will become a close friend, easy to turn to, & offering great wisdom and feeling. While seeing Ackerman's name in a list of vocal releases might seem out of place, this is fully a vocal CD, surrounded by perfectly matched music that carries the voices to their destination with the greatest of ease. |
